Accident Recovery

After a collision the vehicle usually cannot be driven, and it needs to be off the road quickly. We recover accident-damaged cars, vans and 4x4s across Basildon and Essex and move them to wherever you need them.

Before you call anyone

Safety first, then the vehicle. If anyone is hurt, or the vehicle is blocking a live lane, call 999 before you call us.

Once everyone is safe, take photos of the scene, the damage and the other vehicle before anything is moved. Exchange details. Those photos matter later, and once the vehicle is on the back of a truck the scene is gone.

Damaged vehicles on a flatbed

Accident-damaged vehicles frequently will not roll, steer or brake. Wheels can be pointing the wrong way, suspension can be collapsed, and panels can be fouling the tyres.

Flatbed recovery handles all of that. The vehicle is winched on and secured rather than dragged on its own wheels, which avoids adding damage on top of the damage already there.

Insurance work and your own choice of recovery

If you are claiming, your insurer may offer their own recovery as part of the policy. You are generally free to arrange your own instead, and to nominate where the vehicle goes.

Keep the paperwork. If you are recovering the vehicle yourself and intend to claim the cost back, you will need an invoice, so ask us for one.

Where accident-damaged vehicles go

Most go to one of four places:

  • Home, to sit on a driveway while the claim is sorted out
  • An approved or independent bodyshop for repair
  • A storage or holding yard
  • A salvage buyer, where the vehicle is beyond economical repair

Common questions

The car is a write-off. Will you still move it?

Yes. Whether it is going for repair or to a salvage buyer, it still needs transporting and we handle both.

Can you recover a vehicle with no wheels turning?

Yes. Seized, locked or missing wheels are a winch job onto the flatbed rather than a tow.

Will you clear debris from the road?

We will clear what is safe and practical to clear at collection, but a full carriageway clean-up after a serious collision is a job for the police and the highways authority.
